Counselling & Psychotherapy
There can be a lot of questions that arise when thinking about whether to have counselling and psychotherapy. You may be wondering what counselling and psychotherapy are, you may be wondering if counselling and psychotherapy can help you, or if what you feel you need help with is something that you can have counselling and psychotherapy for.
Counselling and psychotherapy involve talking to a trained professional about your thoughts, feelings and behaviour. Counselling and psychotherapy offers you a time, place and safe space. This space is where you can talk to someone who won't judge you, who can help you make sense of things, help you understand yourself better, help you resolve complicated feelings or find ways to live with them, and help you recognise unhelpful patterns in the way you think or act to find ways to change them (if you want to).
The therapy space and therapeutic relationship provides an opportunity to face things that have been challenging for you. Some individuals seek out counselling and psychotherapy because at times things in life can seem too big and too scary to explore on your own, this is where counselling and psychotherapy can offer the opportunity to face these things with another person. Together, we can work towards achieving what you need to feel at ease in yourself and feel more fulfilled in your life. Counselling and psychotherapy can help you to gain new awareness and new perspectives on the issues that once felt too big.
Therapy can last for a short period of time or over a longer period of time, this will depend on a number of factors and we would discuss this at the first session.
